Multi-factor authentication adds another verification step when someone signs in to Back Office, reducing the risk of unauthorised access if a password is compromised.

Users can protect their own account with a code sent by email or generated by an authenticator app. Company admins can enforce MFA for everyone or selected roles, choose the allowed method and control how often users are asked to verify.

Lightspeed Loyalty automatically tracks eligible spend from repeat card payments and lets customers earn credit towards a future purchase. Customers do not need to carry a physical loyalty card or download an app.

When a reward becomes available, POS prompts staff so they can enrol the customer or apply their credit during the sale. Loyalty works across a company's locations, helping regulars earn and redeem wherever they visit.

Lightspeed Loyalty is available in Australia for sites using Lightspeed Payments.

Show a large, sequential order number at the top of customer receipts and production dockets. Staff can call out orders more clearly, while customers can identify their pickup without sharing their name.

You can choose which order types use large numbers, including takeaway, pickup and delivery. Online order numbers take priority when present, keeping identification consistent across ordering channels.

Give products a separate name for production dockets. Shorter or clearer kitchen-facing names can help staff recognise items quickly and reduce mistakes during busy service.

The name shown to customers does not change, so menus and receipts can keep their existing wording while the kitchen sees the terminology that works best for your team.

Store, redeem and refund prepaid balances directly through customer accounts in POS. Staff are prompted when a customer has credit available, and balances update immediately when credit is added or used.

Credit on account can help you manage deposits, prepayments and refunds without relying on gift cards or third-party integrations. Credit movements appear in Takings as Account Credit and sync to accounting integrations as prepayments.

Lightspeed Payments now supports bar tabs. Pre-authorise an amount as a spending limit and link it to a customer profile, making it easy to manage open orders.

When closing the tab, capture the final payment without needing the card again. Surcharging is also supported, giving you more flexibility at checkout.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available for all merchants. Use any iPhone XS or newer running the latest iOS app to accept contactless payments—no terminal required.

It’s a flexible checkout option and a reliable backup for taking payments on the go. All transactions are processed through Lightspeed Payments with support for surcharges and refunds.

Pay at Table has been upgraded to improve speed and stability.

Staff can now print itemised bills directly from the terminal, while transactions continue to process even if POS registers are busy or offline.
